While divers are donning their scuba gear, the captain positions the boat over a ledge where a descent line is lowered with a float ball on one end and a weight on the other. A dive master and a maximum of 6 divers are then dropped at the float where they can descend down the line to the ledge. Much more ground can be covered during a drift, and you don't have to worry about finding the anchor line at the end of the dive- the dive master carries the buoy line with him. The boat follows the ball, so when you surface at the end of the dive, the boat is waiting for you to board. Ledges like the 23 Mile Ledge and Frying Pan Tower make awesome drift dives. For an even sweeter experience, try out a night drift!! Something this cool could only be brought to you by the Aquatic Safaris crew. |
